Anthony Bartok is a Sydney based painter and print maker whose work is a humorous and graphic comment on the modern western world. His simplistic style references the innocence of a children’s colouring-in book, using a banal and deadpan line in order to bring out the inherent absurdities of his subjects. Bartok’s work would be sad if it weren’t so funny, shallow if it weren’t so sad, and inconsequential if it weren’t so close to reality.

He is a 2016 graduate of the National Art School, and has been a finalist in the Churchie Emerging Art Prize (2016), Mosman Art Prize (2017), and Winner of the Fisher’s Ghost Award for Drawing, Painting and Printmaking (2016).
